MOU Between Open Regional Fund and
Danube Waters Secretariat Signed.

The Open Regional Fund, supported by the German GIZ and Swiss Development Corporation, and IAWD on behalf of the Danube Water Program signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 18 committing the parties to “achieve maximum synergy and benefit from the activities of the DWP and the ORF/LLSEE programs.”  The MOU identifies how funding of the two programs will be used for creating synergy in building a strong Regional Dialogue Platform and in activities related to Asset Management and Benchmarking.

Christophe Di Marco of ORF and Philip Weller of the IAWD Danube Water Program Secretariat signed the agreement during a meeting of water utility associations of the Danube region in Vienna and a meeting of municipal officials attending the kickoff of the Local Leaders meeting.

The agreement states that both programs have similar targeted outcomes in the water and sanitation sector and “coordination of effort of the two programs in areas of overlap will help achieve maximum benefit.”  Key activities related to the Dialogue Platform, Asset Management and Benchmarking are being jointly prepared and then will be separately funded by the respective programs.
