Kick-off event for Grant on Asset Management awarded to Sofiyska Voda JSC

Sofiyska Voda JSC has been awarded a Grant by the Danube Water Program to conduct the project “Improvement of the Asset Management in Sofiyska Voda JSC through Elaboration of a New Assets Valuation Methodology”. The introductory seminar of the project was organized in Bansko on 13 October 2016.

The opening speech was given by Mr. Arnaud Valleteau, Executive Director of Sofiyska Voda JSC, who emphasized that asset management was one of the main priorities of the company. Over 70 guests attended the event, among them representatives of WSS companies in Bulgaria, the Danube Water Program, representatives of the World Bank in Bulgaria, as well as the Municipality of Sofia.

The chairman of the Bulgarian Water Association, Eng. Ivan Ivanov, gave an overview of the state of the water sector and the stage of the reforms in the WSS sector. Violeta Wolff (IAWD) assured the support of the Danube Water Program for the Sofiyska Voda project and presented additional projects dealing with asset management in the Danube region. Mr. Ivaylo Kolev (World Bank Bulgaria) presented the experience of the World Bank in the development of projects for financial valuation of assets.

Milko Velichkov, Manager of the GIS sector, highlighted the use of the GIS system for assessment of the physical condition of the assets in Sofiyska Voda JSC. Lyubomir Filipov, Strategic Partnerships and Projects Director, presented the layout of the project, whereas Detelina Todorova and Simeon Kokov from Regulation and Concession Compliance Department gave an overview of the objectives, main activities, and expected outcomes of the project. Finally, Alexandar Marinchev (Bulgarian Water Association) presented the initiative “Mark of Quality”, which aims at controlling the quality of the materials put into WSS projects.
